Building the missing pieces of desktop tracking
How a real client requirement became a complete cross-platform desktop tracking technology — and the start of a reusable Sandbee package.
Explore this pageThe problem
This technology originated from a real client requirement for desktop tracking — and the required functionality was not fully available in existing solutions.
What existed
Existing solutions handled the keyboard and mouse functionality.
What was missing
None of them provided the required application tracking and web tracking functionality.
What Sandbee engineered
Sandbee built the missing components manually: native, cross-operating-system pieces covering application tracking and web tracking — completing a desktop tracking technology that spans keyboard, mouse, application and web activity.
What became reusable
The resulting technology is intended to become a reusable package/service for other developers who need similar functionality. That is the broader Sandbee pattern: a real client problem becomes a technical solution; the solution becomes reusable internal technology; the technology becomes a package, service or product for multiple customers.
Not every client project should automatically become a product. Productization should make sense: repeatable value, broader demand, reusable architecture, a clear customer benefit and viable commercial potential.
